Welcome to kate’s cozy delights

There’s something about a sweet tooth, and the nostalgic smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. I have chosen the topics of baking and providing recipes of cozy delights for my blog for the course of Com 210. Everyone loves dessert-even my nephews ask for dessert before they know what’s for dinner! Baked goods are always comforting and provide a “homey” feeling when they satisfyingly melt in your mouth. I also chose this topic because there are such a wide variety of different cozy delights to bake!

Baking has recently become a major part of my life. Of course it didn’t happen over night, I would say it started with my great grandmother, as sweets and baking always does! She always had candy jars filled with goodies every time I visited. But what sparked my interest was her famous red velvet cake with to-die-for frosting. Now this cake, was definitely melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The frosting was what would always get people! It was the perfect dessert with a cup of decaf after dinner.  Now that my great grandmother has passed, it has become a tradition in my family to make her red velvet cake for birthdays. The recipe hasn’t changed a bit, and neither has people’s reaction and satisfaction.

While my great grandmother’s baking talent has years on mine, I already have a signature dish. It’s simple banana bread. I came across a recipe from Rachael Ray’s website and have tweaked it just a bit. I made it because my father loves banana bread, and it’s a perfect solution for those bananas that go uneaten. My family loves having some sort of cozy delight on the counter to nibble on. And while they all have different preferences, banana bread seems to satisfy them all! It’s a simple dish that I can constantly add different ingredients to, for intensifying flavors.
